Flipped Apple Pie with Caramel Recipe:

Ingredients:

Filling:

  • Apples 2
  • Ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp
  • Butter 20 g
  • Sugar (preferably brown) 20 g
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp

Dough:

  • Eggs 2
  • All-purpose flour 150 g
  • Butter 160 g
  • Sugar (preferably brown) 75 g
  • Baking powder 5 g / 1 tsp
  • Ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp
  • Milk 1/2 tsp

Caramel:

  • Butter 20 g
  • Sugar 55 g
  • Honey 2 tbsp

Method:

  1. Wash the apples, remove the core and cut into slices. Put apple slices in a bowl, add sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Mix together.
  2. Melt the butter in a deep frying pan and add the apples. Cook over medium heat, gently flipping apple slices until slightly soft. Don’t overcook them so they don’t fall apart. Throw the finished apple slices into a colander to drain the excess liquid.
  3. For the caramel, in the same pan where cooked the apples, put butter, sugar and honey, melt and stir until caramelized. Grease a baking dish with butter and pour caramel into it.
  4. Spread the apple slices on top of the caramel.
  5. For the batter: beat soft butter. Continue beating while adding sugar.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time.
  7. Add flour sifted with cinnamon and baking powder and mix thoroughly with a spatula. Then add milk and mix again. The consistency of the batter should be like a smooth cream.
  8. Pour batter over apples and smooth out.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Check readiness with a wooden skewer. Leave the finished cake for 5 minutes in a baking dish, and then carefully turn it over onto a dish.
  10. Enjoy!
